Canadian provinces and territories have the authority to adopt the National Model Construction Codes, change them to suit local needs, and enforce them. Contact the "authority having jurisdiction" (municipal or provincial/territorial building officials) for an official interpretation of building, plumbing, fire, farm building and energy code requirements in your province. Codes Centre staff can provide opinions on the content of the national model codes.
